Mr. Maier was born in St. Georgen, Germany to Artur and Emma (Trautwein) Maier. He came to the United States in 1962. He lived in Linden, prior to moving to Clark 45 years ago.
Mr. Maier was a co-owner of JMK Auto Sales of Springfield for 50 years, retiring in 2015. He was a member of the Deutscher Club of Clark. He was the Past Chairman of the NJ German-American Steuben Parade Committee and Past Chairman of the German-American Heritage Festival. Mr. Maier was the former President of the German Language School, Inc. of Union.
Mr. Maier is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ilse (Bieg) Maier; the devoted father of Birgit Maier, Susan Maier, Cathrin Maier-Tajkowski and her husband Paul and Thomas Maier and his wife Nikole; his cherished grandchildren, Paul, Matthew, Megan and Sydney and his brothers and sister, Artur and Alfred Maier and Eva Hils.
