To our German School Community,
On Saturday, May 9th, 2020, our school year will come to an end.
COVID-19 has brought many changes to all of us. For the German School it meant switching on short notice to a remote learning platform. Principal Frau Koellmann did an outstanding job in training and preparing our teaching staff to work with their students via ZOOM. For these special efforts and hard work the Board of Officers and Trustees would like to thank our principal, our teachers, as well our students and parents for their support.
Frau Koellmann has announced that this will be her final school year with us. Eleven years ago she joined our school as a teacher, and with her enthusiasm excelled through the ranks to become our leader and principal. Frau Koellmann has been a model leader for students, teachers, staff, and parents. Under Frau Koellmann’s strong leadership the school has grown and achieved significant accomplishments. The school has advanced in recognition in Germany, and Frau Koellmann is to be commended for the outstanding outcomes students have achieved in learning the German Language. I thank Frau Koellmann for developing our curriculum into a strong one that produced students earning the highest scores on the AATG (American Association of Teachers of German) exam, German Advanced Placement exam, and the Deutsche Sprachdiplom exam. Recently, several of our students have passed the DSD II exam. Students passing the DSD II exam meet the language requirements for admission into German Universities. The school was successful in achieving this amazing progress as a direct result of Frau Koellmann’s leadership. Please join me in expressing best wishes to Frau Koellmann for her future endeavors.
From within our own teaching ranks, please also join me in welcoming Herr Veniero as our new principal.
I wish you and your families a safe and enjoyable summer.
Sincerely,
Ilse Maier
