Dear Parents and Students,
As the end of the school year is on the horizon, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the year. This particular year presented a lot of challenges for all of us, but I am also so happy with the successes that our students have experienced because of their engagement and hard work and the support of our wonderful teachers and families here in the German school community. Thank you to all of you!
This year our Kindergarteners and level 1 students had lots of fun in addition to learning the basics of the German language. They dressed up and celebrated Fasching, bringing the culture of German-speaking countries to life at our school! Level 2 students delved even deeper into learning and some began to prove their skills by participating in the A1 examinations. Some Level 3 and 4 students were awarded A2 language certificates after successfully proving their abilities in reading, listening, and writing in German, in addition to orally presenting on a topic that was meaningful to them, like some of their peers in Level 4 who received the German language diploma at the B1 level. I learned about horses, ballet, space travel, and tennis while assessing these carefully prepared presentations. It was so great to see their interests come through and how strong their language skills are. Finally, several of our students in Level 5 have their sights set on study in Germany and they took the TestDaF to help open up that opportunity for them, or are planning to attend Studienkolleg in Germany next year before applying to universities. It is the culmination of a lot of Saturdays, but students also have so much to show for that work and had a lot of fun getting there too. We can all be proud of the work that has happened in the German School this year! Thank you for being a part of it!
As we look forward to the next school year we hope to see many of you back again and invite new families to join our thriving community. Registration for the 2021-2022 school year begins on May 1st.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Salvatore J. Veniero, Principal
